Queen’s Park — Mike Schreiner, leader of the Green Party of Ontario and candidate in Guelph, launched the Green Party’s campaign to restore honesty and integrity to Queen’s Park.
“At the door, on the street, in the local coffee shops – people are telling me politics is broken,” says Schreiner. “Queen’s Park should represent honesty, integrity, and good public policy to the people of Ontario. Instead it means boondoggles, shell games, and empty promises.”
The political games being played with funding for transit by all three status quo parties is just one of many examples.
The Green Party’s campaign will focus on challenging the status quo that created the mess at Queen’s Park and bringing a positive voice for change by electing one or two Green MPPs.
“Ontario can create jobs and build a better world for our kids while protecting our environment,” says Schreiner. “The people of Ontario should be proud of the leadership they’ve elected.”
Schreiner said the Green Party’s priorities will be on job creation by supporting small businesses, improving education by ending segregated school boards, and protecting vital resources such as farmland and water.
Schreiner’s first official tour stop will be in Midhurst, north of Barrie, where a Liberal loophole for special interests is enabling a mega development to threaten prime farmland against the wishes of the local community.
“People are tired of development by loophole, where Liberal friends play by a different set of rules,” says Schreiner.
Schreiner will return to Guelph in the afternoon, where he will welcome supporters to a rally.
“The community here is telling me, get to Queen’s Park before it’s too late, Mike,” says Schreiner. “I’m very proud to be running in Guelph where I started my first local food business.”
It’s time to think big, expect better and vote Green.
